I cried after reading this wonderful story. The whole way through you had to fight for your right to have a normal delivery. This is just what I fear, as I am looking to VBAC after a traumatic emergency Caesar, and have been met with such mixed reaction. I am so intent on having a normal delivery, but wonder when push comes to shove will I have to re-assert my plan over and over like you had to. it is so unfair, when we are already feeling vulnerable and stressed to have to deal with constant questions and opinions. Congratulations, on your baby's birth, and on you and your husbands strength and determination to have a baby as it should happen.

Amber your story brought tears to my eyes & I want to thank you sincerely. Your son must be nearly 2 now, as is my daughter. Also due to placenta preavia I had a CS, not elective, but I never got into labour. Natural birth is so important to me & now that I have just found out we are expecting another, I would love to try a VBAC, which is why I'm researching Yemaya. Your story has given me inspiration.
Best Wishes to you & your family,
Sincerely,
Angela

Hi Amber,

Thankyou so much for sharing your very empowering and positive birth story of a VBAC in hospital. I live in Bendigo and had to have an elective c-section for my first pregnancy for placenta previa to. I am 14 wks pregnant now with my second baby and my husband and I want to try for a VBAC. We would love any information you have to help empower us. Is there any chance we could get a copy of your birth plan to get some ideas. I am a midwife so probably my own worst enemy (ie. I have too much inside knowledge) But I would love to experience labour and give it my best shot despite the obstetricians and hospital limitations. We are also going to do a calm birthing course to help me stay focused.

I am happy to post you my email address if you don't automatically get it from this post.
Regards

At this late stage [ Oliver is now four months ] I have read of my beautiful daughter's birth plan and subsequent birth. I am so proud of her, she made her decision and really fought to have her plan implmented against quite a lot of negativity, even I was concerned only because of Harry's birth having to be caesarean, however after listening to her views and knowing the research she had entered into...I trusted her judgement. Of course I have heard her story 1st hand from Amber and Ben, Ben tells me how brave she was , a very calm birth, he would not have known she was in pain except for the pressure of her hands on him with each contraction but no screaming etc. a truly calm birth.
Oliver is proof of a calm birth..he is a calm and happy beautiful baby.

Congratulations Amber firstly on little Oliver and secondly for sticking to your birth plan and not letting Doctors do what might be easiest for them but harder for you.
Frightening that there was so much pressure on you for time frames etc.
Just goes to show, that with a little determination it can be done.
Thanks for your story, x
